16 of us. We could map out a track on the game's map with a start and finish point of some kind.
Also, we could even use carriages and have teams of 2 or 4 (depending on how many can use a single carriage at once). Failing that, and providing this is possible, we could have teams of 2 - with 2 people per horse.
Could be awkward and somewhat difficult to organise in some aspects though. What d'ya reckon, think it'd work?

Haha, this sounds like an awesome idea! We could have two ways of playing: one where we CAN use weapons on each other, and another where we CANNOT use weapons on each other. Y'know what I'm saying? Like a classic race and a dirty race? It might make things more fun (or annoying, haha)

gentle men and, ladies if i may add in
the idea is awesome, if i may add a bit of excitment to it though, you should have a point where you start the race, and then the end, but dont set a track, let anyone go anyway that they wish to join, its kind of like a cross country race i think i'm not sure,
and for carriages you can have carriage races and what you do is have a driver and passenger, or passengers, and if there are weapons used, make it so that only the driver can get shot, so that way the passenger can take over but at the same time they lose some distance from the transfer.
plus i heard on that radio thing that to get from one end of the map to another can take up to 15 to 20 minutes, so you can make a very exciting race out of this

Ooo, I like this. Weapons could work if players are able switch from passenger to driver position. Good thinking. And yeah, the waypoints would be ideal.

What d'ya reckon, think it'd work? You must mean in Private Free Roam, as you're sure to be ambushed and shot off your horse by a sidewinding cowpoke looking to notch his 6.
