i learned the hard way that this is not a good idea.........i mean there were atleast 40 different enemies in the particular hideout i was attempting to take over, they were all over the roofs and had many different enemy types from long range shooters to short range shooters. after struggling with the first half and getting though 20 of them i had to "defend" this same hideout.........i so now 20 more men spawned within the hideout and there were two guys riding around the hideout randomly tossing fire bombs in my general area.... needless to say i died....a lot..sadly my session ended up disconnecting so i couldn't finish but i can honestly say getting my ass kicked has never been so fun ;D.
did anyone else try a gang hideout by themselves and feel the pain ?

Yes... thankfully Jason and Mavendetta from my posse were off hunting and came to help. It wasn't bad at first, but at a certain point just when I thought I had won, a bunch of guys spawned behind me and that was not good. It was really fun as group though... that is also where I was convinced that you couldn't kill your own posse until I blew Mavendettas head off

Yeah, really need to posse up for gang hideouts, I think we did every single one, some of them twice. Gets great XP and some gang hideouts are waaay better than others. Attacking forts is really awesome.

Actually soloing gang hideouts isn't that difficult, you just need to think and plan how you're going to go about it.

Yeah its kinda hard, but if you stay in cover its alot easier. just keep moving from cover to cover take your time. It's an easy way to level up because you are not sharing xp with team mates.

its not that hard once you level up a bit and get some good weapons. It is hard when you first start. At this point though, what ever that first hideout is (Pike's Basin?) is the fastest way to level up. If you play it solo you will level up at least one rank everytime. The only time you are REALLY going to need help is when doing the challenges where you can't die.

I've found that soloing Fort Mercy yields the most XP for the least amount of time. Kills: 36-37 Deaths: 0 if handled correctly Time: 4-5 minutes (Best time has been 3:51) +100 XP when using expert aim if you roll that way
Currently level 37. Unlocked the High Power Pistol (1903) and loving every minute of it

i find the mine cart one forks out the most xp yet i've only done that with a few posse members (2-3) level 18

I took out Nosalida and Fort Mercer alone, though 1-2 deaths beforehand of course. Walton's Gang hide out I've done with a minimum of one posse member (2 of us). All this with Targeting on Expert mode.

I have also heard that the Lasso may indeed be available at an extremely high Level or Challenges completion section. I certainly hope that's correct!

As far as I know the lasso is not in multiplayer.
And you unlock the Henry Repeater at 32.

As far as I know the lasso is not in multiplayer. And you unlock the Henry Repeater at 32. That's a shame if so. They need to add it (and the minigames like Poker, Texas Hold 'Em, Horseshoes, etc.) in DLC. It would make things even more wonderful (along with adding things like Horsebreaking, cattle hering and train/bank robberies). As a side note, the outlaw challenges are simply great fun. I've gotten Public Enemy twice in Armadillo. I love this game though.

hrmm to be quite honest i do gang hideouts by myself all the time, i find it pretty easy if you just take your time hiding behind cover and taking shots when you can without getting 50 people all squeezing off rounds and turning you into a human canvas, although i find nosalida to be one of the hardest for some reason

I did that small walled off village in Mexico, its difficult enough but if you kill everyone inside first then get yourslf on the church roof and start pickin em off wiv a repeater or rifle until ammo runs low it makes it easier
